This book cover is truly a piece of design wizardry. It has three distinct layers. In the backdrop is an artfully Photoshopped set of bookcases, made to look turn of the century. Every book and detail is in order. Superimposed in front, the ominous figure of a shadowed man with a top hat. The sharp detailing of his hands and watch draw your gaze back into the depths of the image. An abstract collage of clocks, gears, rope, and mist, holographic on the actual cover, complete the trio. The copper foil of the title and the author’s name add a finishing touch.
I’m currently making my way through all 611 pages of The Map of Time–more to follow.
